Works by a Poet and Psalmist
'THE GATE OF HEAVEN'

Genesis 28:10-22 Psalms 24:7-10
Jacob was a real con man and manipulator
before his close encounter with the Living
God at Bethel. It was while sleeping with
his natural mind at rest and out of the way
that the ladder of heaven came down and the
angels appeared and that God spoke to Jacob
affirming the covenant to him that He had
with his fathers. It was only after waking
up that he realized the gravity of what had
happened. He said, ''Surely the Lord is in
this place and I did not know it''. And he
was afraid and said, ''How awesome is this
place! This is the house of God, and this is
the gate of heaven!''
Before this his determination in life was to
make things go his way on his own terms.
After this powerful encounter with
God things changed for him and in him. It
was here at Bethel that he decided to make
the God of his fathers his own personal God.
It is here that he anointed the stone with
oil and made a vow of commitment to the
Lord.
We all must be seeking the Lord to move us
to the next level of Glory in His plan for
our lives. Trying to make it happen
however through selfish ambition and our own
tenacity is only the arm of the flesh
flexing it's willfulness. This will only
delay the true process of God proving His
will for us. Like Jacob sometimes we just
need to relax in our waiting on God, even
sleep peacefully. God will come in His own
timing to wake us up to His will and
purposes. When He does we will never be the
same!

Trying to make things happen will only
hinder us in achieving the goals of God.
