'WAY WITH WORDS'

1 Samuel 3:19-21

With the life and ministry of the prophet Samuel came a major shift in how God chose to deal with His people Israel. He became the last Judge of the nation, the man who set the stage for Kings to come to power over the land, and the first great prophet after Moses. He set in order a new paradigm in how men operated as mouthpieces for Gods voice in the earth. He laid out the pattern for those who followed and is referred to as the ''father of prophets'.

He was called of God directly by an audible voice while sleeping, as just a mere lad. His first prophecy was to Eli his spiritual leader and father. It was a hard word to speak to Eli for young Samuel because it spoke of judgment coming upon not only Eli but his entire family, which took place not long after.

It was said of Samuel that he grew, that God was with him and that God Himself, 'let none of his words fall to the ground'. He was and still is an example to us all. All of us need to watch what we say, as I'm sure Samuel must have. We must think before we speak and know that God will hold us accountable. Jesus said every idle (useless) word we speak we will have to give an account of one day. Samuel is a excellent model for everyone to follow.

+++FALLEN+++

SO MUCH TALK

LOST IN SPACE

GOSSIP, OPINIONS

SLANDER, SLIGHTS

SO MANY WASTED WORDS

WE CANNOT RETRIEVE

TALK, SO CHEAP

EMPTY WORDS

YET THEY CANNOT BE BOUGHT BACK

AT ANY PRICE

EVERY IDLE, LAZY ONE

COUNTED BY ANGELS

FOR FUTURE ACCOUNTING...

OH LORD, GOVERN MY THOUGHTS

OH SWEET SPIRIT, BEAR THAT SPECIAL FRUIT

HERE IN ME, OF SELF-CONTROL

TO THINK BEFORE SPEAKING

TO HOLD MY TONGUE

BEFORE IT'S RUN

HOLD BACK MY SPEECH

BEFORE IT'S RELEASE

AS A MAN ON A LEASH

HOLDS BACK A MONGREL DOG

THAT LITTLE BEAST

THAT WOULD BITE FIRST

AND ASK QUESTIONS LATER

DART FORWARD INTO TRAFFIC

CRUSHED BENEATH THE WHEELS

BY IMPULSE

STICKING HIS NOSE INTO DUNG

HORNET NESTS, AND OTHER POISONS

WITHOUT FEAR OF REPRISAL

OH LORD, I BEG THEE

LET NONE OF MY WORDS

BE FALLEN

TO THE GROUND

TO BE PUSHED

BENEATH THE DIRT...

BELOW THE SANDS.
